The Need Is So Great

When we look around our communities we find the need is so great in so many aspects of our towns and cities. However, we must realize that we can help in some way. If we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the need, our communities will be paralyzed and the need will only grow and get that much worse.

So often there are organizations and people in our communities that can benefit from the skills and resources we possess. We don’t have to search high and low for these assets; they are right at our finger tips. These are the things we need to place on the table as an offering to those organizations and persons who are in need.

In my community I serve on three boards of directors: Vision for Equality, a disabilities advocacy organization; Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (PARF), a trade association of human services providers; and Sacred Heart Villa, an assisted living facility for clergy and lay persons. I am also a proud member of the Pennsylvania Waiting List Campaign, a parent led group working to reduce the waiting list for services for persons with cognitive disabilities and autism.

These organizations are extensions of my background and experience. Lending support to their mission and vision is without major inconvenience. It is an opportunity to for me to use my knowledge and strengths.

As you continue to support organizations in your community or look for new ones to support — I hope you do so from your many strengths.

All the best,

Nat
