She is a licensed cosmetologist and a mentor at a human services agency in Pennsylvania for disadvantaged youth trying to get their life back on track.

Cheryl is the author of Grand Larceny, a story of a young girl named Sherelle Johnson who tries to maintain her innocence, but unfortunately experiences molestation at the tender age of nine. After this traumatic event, Sherelle’s life spirals out of control, and she leads a life of crime and incarceration. Ms. Powell’s Grand Larceny is part of a trilogy with her next book soon to be published by the Spring of 2025 called, Like Mother, Like Daughter.

Cheryl became an ordained minister in 2019 and she is regularly active in prison ministry.  Cheryl believes offering opportunities for prayer, meditation and spiritual reflection can help inmates find solace, peace, and strength during their time of incarceration.  Cheryl’s goal is to hopefully continue her efforts to support this population by opening “ Each One, Reach One” a non-profit to provide financial assistance, pastoral counseling, and reconciliation circles with the inmate’s family.  Cheryl unequivocally believes that nobody should be left behind regardless of their situation or challenging life event.  Cheryl is paying it forward from her life experiences and wants to give hope and encouragement to all in need.
